Gilneas

(Wow zone levels 1-15)

This human kingdom had supported the Alliance during the Second War, but King Genn Greymane  had no qualms about breaking all ties with the outside world when it became clear that the Alliance had more need of Gilneas than not. Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, darkness fell upon the country after the closure of the gates of King Genn Greymane wall, and the Worgen curse ravaged the nation. Quickly, Gilneans came to deliver a terrible civil war that brought the kingdom with fire and blood. Miraculously, Gilneans have managed to cling to the last vestiges of their humanity … for now

Gilneas is a large peninsula, located in the south of Lordaeron. The area is adjacent to Hillsbrad Foothills and Silverpine Forest, and is separated from the latter by the famous wall of King Genn Greymane. Because of its proximity, Zul’Dare is considered a territory belonging to Gilneas.

Gilneas is the starting area of Worgens covering the first 15 levels of play.

Lost Isles

(Wow zone levels 1-15)

The Lost Isles are located in the south of Azshara, and the north of Durotar. This is where the goblins are stranded to be sold by one of their congeners, after their ship was caught in a naval battle between the Alliance and the Horde.

Lost Isles is the starting area of Goblins covering the first 15 levels of play.

Mount Hyjal

(Wow zone levels 78-82)

This brand new area of level 78-82 will include many series of quests, phased zones, portals to micro-areas within the Land of Fire, a brand new raid dungeon, and more!

The sunken city of Vashj’ir

(Wow zone levels 78-82)

Vashj’ir was before the fracture, the home of Lady Vashj. This majestic city was the home of a large number of Highbornes, who have now become horrible Nagas, under the influence of their queen Azshara.

Vashj’ir is an underwater area where you can get around by swimming, walking on the ground or using underwater mountings.

Uldum

(Wow zone levels 80-84)

Uldum is a former desert, situated on the southernmost coast of Kalimdor.

Two towers inspired by ancient Egypt will be available through a door in the south of Tanaris. Uldum contain a raid instance and a 5-player dungeon. The 5-players dungeon, called The Halls of Origination contains the Origin 7 boss.

Access to the area appears to be done by inserting a set of plates. The plates in question can be found at the end of the Uldaman instance. Nevertheless, it is unlikely to be of no use to enter Uldum since the cataclysm triggered by Deathwing will damage the system built by the Titans.

Deepholm

(Wow zone levels 82-84)

Deepholm is the name for the basement of Azeroth, so deep that it would be in contact with the core of the planet. Recently, we learned that it’s where Deathwing was hidden.

Deepholm is a hub area, which will allow players to join other parts of the game added in WoW Cataclysm. However, quests will be proposed, most being related to Deathwing. This area would also house a gigantic lake, visible in the Deeprun Tram.

Twilight Highlands

(Wow zone levels 84-85)

Situated in the east of Wetlands, the Highlands are a Twilight Zone level 84 to 85, where there were port cities to unknown destinations.

Tol Barad

(Total PvP area)

Tol Barad is a ravaged island, a former human kingdom located in Baradin Bay, in the south of the Isle of Purification.

Tol Barad serves as battlegrounds between the Alliance and the Horde and will be a total PvP zone, like the Wintergrasp in Northrend. It where the majority of daily quests added during the extension will take place.

Maelstrom

When the Well of Eternity exploded during the War of the Ancients, a raging sea infiltrated and broke the single continent Kalimdor into three distinct parts: the Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Northrend.

At the moment of its destruction, some night elves that were engulfed by the magical waters of the Well were turned into Nagas. It is under the mighty maelstrom that stands Nazjatar, their capital.

The center of the Maelstrom, called “The Eye”, is the seat of an apocalyptic storm generated by persistent chaotic energies of the old wells.

According to some rumors, it would be under the ruins of the Well of Eternity where was locked the Old Gods, commonly called “the Three”.

The Hunter (Hunter): Description

Azeroth welcomes a wide range of animals. Since the new world of Lordaeron to the old world of Kalimdor, all types of creatures can be found. Some are friendly, others are rather fierce and aggressive. By cons, they all have something in common. Each creature shares a special connection with the Hunter. Master the skills of Animals (Beast Mastery)

Group play

Totems

Shaman has four types of totems up: the earth, fire, water and air. Shaman must earn each totem by doing quests. The pole of the earth is the first totem available. Others are available at higher levels. By going to your coach regularly, you will receive regular quests allowing you to get the other totems.

Totems appear in the game in two different ways: as inventory items and as spell effects. To cast a Totem spell, shaman must have earned and possessed the totem for that element in his inventory. Totems are stationary, they do not move with you. Your group and you need to remain close to the totem to get benefits.

Totems are linked to you, meaning that you cannot give them to another player. The Rage

A warrior has a red rage bar. This is the equivalent of mana for casters. During the fight, warrior generates rage in relation to damage he generate and the damage taken / prevented.

Some cries improve the damage of the group, others may scare away nearby enemies and we even found that it reduces the effectiveness of offensive monsters.

Protection Skills

Here is the famous warrior’s Taunt, ability to attract the monsters on it and prevents the weaker characters to take too many slaps. However, there are other useful skills as Revenge, which allows a counter-attack against an enemy in melee who just hit you. You can also reduce the armor of the enemy or disarm an enemy, just as do the Defias in Westfall. Finally, some will surely appreciate striking with their shields using Shield Bash, especially since this skill will cancel the spell a monster is preparing.

Some Tips

Make groups with healers (Priest, Shaman, Druid) to stay alive.

Choose one or two types of weapons with both hands. It costs skill points, so you can concentrate on one or two at most.

Manage your Rage properly. If you fight a caster, keep the rage at the right time to trigger a Shield Bash or Kick to prevent it from attacking you or be unable to heal. Usage of more Strike causes additional damage, but if the monster heals after that, it will be worth nothing.

Plan a long term way to spend your talent points. If you want a warrior with a lot of points, invest in endurance. If you want to do more damage, choose the strength and specialization in weapons.

Protect your partner group, a priest or a mage is not made to collect the bulk of the enemy attack. Use the Taunt skill to attract hits on you.

It is very important to get your skills in different weapons so you can easily switch weapons if you can find very good ones. Take different types of weapons with you and switch between them to get your skills in different types of weapons.

Occupations

Take what you want, but you may find the following combinations suited to the Warrior:

Mining and Blacksmithing: Allows you to make your own equipment

Herbalism and Alchemy: Creates healing potions and buffs (increase capacity)

First Aid: You simply cannot treat yourself as a warrior, so having this skill will reduce your waiting between battles

Cooking and Fishing: Allows you to catch and cook your food to reduce downtime after combat

When a player dies in one of these dungeons, if someone in your group can revive him, he returns to life at the entrance of the dungeon at the risk of seeing you facing the reappeared monsters. In addition, a warlock can’t teleport a player in the instance; he must therefore leave it to be able to invoke the player.

Generally, in a dungeon, monsters reappear very slowly, which is useful when the whole group dies for having improperly evaluated a boss. You might also be aware that if the group is staying for more than twenty minutes outside of the dungeon it will be seen all the monsters that will reappear in it.

LOOT: Few green drops.
Description: The entrance to the dungeon is located in the cave under Ogrimmare. It is an underground dungeon filled with lava and the local fauna is composed of snakes, elementary of lava, troggs and orcs. Personally, I find this instance rather repetitive and without a real scenario, but it remains interesting to do for the experience and the collected objects.

The deadmines

Zone: westfall

Faction: Alliance

Level: 16-20

LOOT: Among the blue drops of this instance we could find the Embered Staff and Defias Leather armor set.

Description: You will find this dungeon in Westfall, in the city of Moonbrook. There you will find an entire collection of Defias bandits, that is to say, humans, dwarfs and Gobelins. In contrast to Ragefire this instance occurring in mines has a real story where you will discover the dark projects of Defias bandits.

Wailing Caverns

Zone: Barrens

Level: 16-21

Faction: Horde

Loot: The priests and magicians will appreciate this instance for the famous crescent staff given by the main quest.
Description: This instance takes place in the Barrens through lush underground caverns.  Local wildlife consists of raptors, ectoplasms and night elves. It is one of my favorite instances to this date with a truly memorable end.

Shadowfang Keeps

Zone: Forest of Silverpine

Level: 19-25

Faction: Horde

LOOT: You can find a very interesting Dress of Arugal that a mage should keep for a long time.
Description: The Dungeon at the bottom of Silverpine is the lair of the dark wizard Arugal, engaged in sinister mixtures between men and wolves living in the old premises. Local wildlife composed of living dead, of wolves and wolf men.

Blackfathom DEEPS

Zone: ashenvale

Level: 20-28

Faction: Alliance and Horde

LOOT: Doomspike is a dagger having a Dps of 17.7 and a chance to poison the target with a damage of 80 for 20 seconds.
Description: This instance is found in the ruins of a glorious temple dedicated to the night elves moon goddess, Elune. You’ll meet Nagas, Murlocs, satyrs and elves. The entry that you will find to the north of the beach to the west of Ashenvale is fairly original since you need to plunge into a basin to reach it.

The Stockade

Zone: stormwind

Level: 22-26

Faction: Alliance

LOOT: It should be noted an original Skeletal Gauntlets to interrupt a spell being launched.
Description: This instance is being held in the prison of Stormwind where the imprisoned Defias took control after a riot that cost the lives of many guards.

Razorfen Kraul

Zone: SOUTHERN BARRENS

Level: 25-30

Faction: Horde

LOOT: Some rare items like Death speaker scepter, Death speaker robes and Batwing mantle.
Description: This instance is located in the south of the barrens. This dungeon will take place in the middle of the briers characteristics of the Razormen, the wildlife consists of Humanoids mid-man and half-pig as adversaries.

Gnomeragan

Zone: Dun Morogh

Level: 26-33

Faction: Alliance and Horde

LOOT: You will find in this instance an incredible collection of rings and a simly awesome Electromagnetic Gigaflux Reactivator.
Description: Former capital Gnome has been invaded by the Trogs. The excellent ambiance of this city robot is only equal to its huge size which is that of any capital.

Scarlet Monastery

Zone: Tirisfal Glades

Level: 35-43

Faction: Alliance and Horde

Loot: You will find in the monastery if you are a magic class, an Illusionary Rod that you will surely keep until level 45.
Description: This monastery houses a group of fanatics that call themselves Crimson Phalanx. This highly original instance is divided to three mini instances: a graveyard, an armory and finally a magnificent Cathedral.

Razorfen Downs

Zone: South Barrens

Level: 38-42

Faction: Horde

Loot: Apart from a very good sword: X’caliboar, the remaining items will be of particular interest to other classes like mages and priests with many objects of fabric.
Description: This dungeon is graphically close enough to Razorfen Kraul and populated by Quillboars and Undead. This instance will guide you into its final phase to a Lich on top of a hill spiral.

Uldaman

Zone: Badlands

Level: 36-45

Faction: Alliance and Horde

Loot: A great axe called Pendulum of Doom with a chance to make up to 350 more damage, rings, armor plates and others.
Description: This dungeon, populated by dwarfs and stone golems, is set in a cave in the Badlands.  After an adventure, that is far from being easy (it is better to be at level 45 to be able to see the end), you will discover the origin of the dwarfs.

Maraudon

Zone: Desolace

Level: 41-49

Faction: Alliance and Horde

LOOT: an impressive leather helmet called Helm of the Mountain or one of the best leggings of the game called: Elemental Rockridge Leggings for the lucky ones that can wear plate.
Description: Maraudon is the Landmark of the satyrs from the prohibited union between one of the sons of the Guardian of the Bosquet Cenarius and a princess of chaotic elements.

Zul’Farrak

Zone: Tanaris

Level: 43-47

Faction: Alliance and Horde

Loot: can be found in this particular instance a helmet of fabric “Embrace of the Lycan” that will make the happiness of magic classes.
Description: This sandy open instance is held in the desert of Tanaris.  The local fauna consists mainly of trolls and story is divided into two distinct main quests that will take you to defeat a giant hydra on one of them.

The Sunken Temple

Zone: Swamp of Sorrow

Level: 45-50

Faction: Alliance and Horde

LOOT: objects such as a pant called Kilt of the Atal’ai Prophet.
Description: This instance is taking place, as the name indicates, in a sunken temple in the swamps of Lamentations. There you will find mainly Dragons like Eranikus (a shadow of a dragon to be more precise) and hakkar, as well as many Troll mini bosses like prophet Ba-jammal’.

Blackrock Depths

Zone: Between Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes

Level: 48-55

Faction: Alliance and Horde

Loot: You will find in this instance a wand called Wand of Eternal Light offering a very interesting spell or a helmet “Foreman’s Head Protector” that warriors will appreciate.
Description: Blackrock Depths is a part of “High Levels” instances. Even if Blizzard indicates a recommended level between 48 and 55, a level 55 seems to be the minimum to finish it (Check X-elerated Wow Leveling Guide).  You will find this instance inhabited by Dwarfs and other elementary of fire in the Burning Steppes. Graphically it’s a real success, including the crossing of the lava at the entrance.  Also note that the area contains a portal of raid for ragnaros, one of the ancient gods of Azeroth.

Blackrock Spire

Zone: Between Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes

Level: 52-60

Faction: Alliance and Horde

LOOT: There are objects in this instance as this beautiful purple helmet called “Dragonskin Cowl” and many item sets.
Description: Graphically pretty close to Blackrock Depths. In Blackrock Spire you will fight orcs, ogres and trolls. This instance has the originality to be separated into two parts which are both floors. The lower area has the Overlord Wyrmthalak as a boss and the top one has the General Drakkisath.

Stratholme

Zone: Eastern Plaguelands

Level: 55-60

Faction: Alliance and Horde

Loot: This instance offers as loot this a mass called “Malown’s Slam” and some awesome set pants “Legguards of Stratholme”.
Description: This instance takes you to fight the Scourge Strat, in one of its strongholds. There you’ll find ghouls, gargoyles and other abominations in the ruined city of Stratholme. In addition to the scourge, you will also encounter the leader of the Scarlet Phalanx as well as the big boss of the instance: Lord Aurius Rivendare. As for the other two previous instances, there is no improvisation possible. You will need a group of 5 and the highest level possible to see the end.

Scholomance

Zone: Western Plaguelands

Level: 56-60

Faction: Alliance and Horde

Loot: You will find a helmet that fits well with a warrior: Bone Ring Helm or this One-Handed Mace offering an interesting DPS: Hammer of the Vesper.
Description: Like Stratholme, you will fight here again the Scourge Strat. It is in effect of the School of Necromancy founded by KEL’Thuzad himself.  The enemies you will find there will therefore be mostly black mages and the owner, the Lich Ras Frostwhisper.

Zul’Gurub

Zone: Stranglethorn Vale

Level: Formerly a 20-man raid instance for level 60 players, has returned as a heroic-only 5-player dungeon for players at the level of 85 (You can check our recommended wow leveling guide to get to level 85 in no time), Blue stuff recommended

Faction: Alliance and Horde

Loot: Most items are very good blue items especially this very powerful and epic jewel called  Zandalarian Hero Charm given as a reward of the Heart of Hakkar by the trolls of the village of Zandalar.
Description: A group of fanatics troll priests have managed to resurrect Hakkar the soul flayer.  By enslaving them, Hakkar took control of the dungeon. You need to kill his lieutenants to weaken him so the bravest of you will be able to compete with him.  Many optional bosses are present in this instance.

NB: Most of the damage is from “nature based attacks”,  Good resistance to this kind of magic will increase your chances of success.

Molten Core

Zone: Pike blackrock

Level: 60, blue stuff recommended

Faction: Alliance and Horde

LOOT: There are many items from an epic level.  The complete list is available Here.
Description: Raid instance for 40 persons. Ragnaros, the fire elemental lord, banished by the Titans in the bowels of the earth, is now recovering his strength in order to destroy all life on Azeroth.  So enter into the furnace and get ready to face him!
Recommendations: In this instance where everything is burning, fire resistance is essential. So, there is no point in trying to defeat Ragnaros without any raid with more than 150 of resistance to that element!

Mining: A Collection Profession

Want to become a miner? Then you must know that Mining is a very exciting profession that is used to collect material for blacksmiths and engineers. However, you do not need to develop these skills to become a miner. You may very well simply collect items and sell them to those players. You go through the world in search of the best places to practice your art; you can merchandise what you do very well. However, quite a few players combine Mining and Blacksmithing or Engineering and Mining. Note that with the limit of two skills, you cannot develop Miner, Blacksmith and Engineer skill. You must make a choice!

WoW Mining Guide: Becoming a miner

First, you have to find your trainer. Feel free to ask for directions to other players who have done it before you, or to the guards in big cities. Once you’ve learned the fundamentals, you can open your skill book (by pressing the “i”) and find the icon “discoveries” that appeared. This will allow you to detect the ore. Then do not hesitate to take the icon and place it in one of the available slots in your action bar.

Now you need to find a pickaxe. Easily find it at the Trade Merchants or vendors near your trainer.

Find ore veins

Now it is time to find a vein of ore. When you are ready to play, press the icon “discoveries” (or the shortcut). The locations of ores will appear on the mini map when you’re near them. You must walk up the max to find them. They are often located near areas of quests or in mines. They are found in many mountainous regions. It’s up to you to discover what good places to recover the precious metal are.

Try to have your icon activated as often as possible, so you’ll know when you approach a source of ore.

Types of ore veins

There are many kinds of veins, from most common to more rare: copper, tin, silver, iron, gold, Mithril and others. To find the rarest veins, you must break into the most dangerous regions in the world. Early veins are always “copper”. And gradually, as you become better, you will progress to veins like “tin” and others.

Using the ore veins

Once you’ve discovered a vein, right-click it to begin mining. If you are successful, you can retrieve some ore and perhaps even stones. If you miss, start over again. Continue until the vein disappears.

WoW Mining Guide: Components

When you mine, you will find three main types of ingredients: metal, stones and jewels. The jewels are rare and are used for the high-level formulas and other professions such as engineering and blacksmithing. Collect all the ingredients you find and use them later. The stones can be processed without using a blacksmith. Most of these components can also be found on the corpses of monsters or you can buy them from other players.

When you pass your mouse over a vein of ore, a color will show you if mining will increase or not your competence:

• Gray: No gain.
• Green: You are unlikely to gain, but possible. Don’t even lose time with these things if your goal is to level up.
• Yellow: Gain is strongly possibe. Feel free to create these items to develop your profession.
• Orange: Gain Insured. These are ideal objects to climb rapidly the levels in Mining.
• Red: You cannot even mine, you need a higher skill level. Check Dugi’s WoW Mining Guide to level faster.

Once you have mastered one type of ore, you no longer need to level up your skills. However, you can still use the ore and stones that you got.

Use a blacksmith

Now that you have the precious metal, you can melt it into bars that can be used to build armor, weapons, or objects through blacksmithing and engineering.

You must find yourself a blacksmith. They are found in most major cities but also in some small towns. If you can’t find it, ask around a little help, the players certainly will tell you their locations. To make sure that you will find a blacksmith, move your cursor over the place and see if it indicates that it has a blacksmith. You can also try to melt the metal. Know that you do not need to interact with the blacksmith, just be close to it.

Now that you have a blacksmith beside you, it’s time to melt the metal. Open your skills book and look for the icon Smelting. Press to see your formulas. For example, you can convert the copper bars or create bronze by combining copper bars and tin. For new combinations, you must visit a trainer. The screen will tell you how many of each ore bars you need and how much material you have.

Mining in Groups

If two members of one group are miners, each one must mine in order to increase their skills. If this is not a problem, you can even share the ore or give way to one who has the most developed skill.

Leatherworking: A Production Profession

This skill allows players to make various kinds of leather and skins in order not to only produce leather armor, but also patches for the creation of weapons and top metal armors. Players who choose this trade skill are responsible for creating leather items for the following classes: Druid, Hunter, Shaman and Rogue. Although the Paladin and Warrior can wear leather, they generally prefer to wear heavier armors, unless they want a very specific bonus or have nothing else to wear at the time.

For whom?

Overall the leatherworking is associated with classes carrying leather armor (Rogue, Druid, Shaman and Hunter). Note that with the help of WoW Leatherworking Guide you’ll be able to achieve at higher levels some Mail armor (including through specialization but also armored Dragonsworn through 2 sets of classic patterns, based on the scales of scorpion and turtle).

You can also choose this profession in a financial goal to sell products; some objects are very popular and sell very well even though they can be quite expensive. The worker also produces leather reinforcements which can be placed on any armor to increase its effectiveness.

Patches of armors

You can create patches for the armor used in some sort of alternative to their enchantment. Players must choose between a patch and an enchantment for their various objects. Patches of armor are permanent. You can place an enchantment over an armor that is patched or put a patch on a more powerful armor that is already patched. The patches are applied only on boots, body armor, gloves and leggings.

Become a “Leatherworker”

Since you will need skins and leather to create your items, we strongly advise that you become a skinner first. It is possible to use only the Leatherworking skill, but in this case you will buy the ingredients from other players. It is much more convenient to do everything by yourself and you will find only few players who make the leather without butchering the animals themselves.

Formulas Ingredients

The most important thing for a player is to find the leather and skins. You will find them after butchering animals. You will probably not find enough alone, so it is advisable to buy it from other players or ask your friends to collect them for you. The formulas also require from time to time other ingredients such as stains (the famous “dyes”) or thread that you bought from merchants. You might also need rare gems that are on the monsters in the coffers, mining, fishing or using the “pick pocket” skill of Rogues.

Leatherworking: an easy job

People who make with leather do not need special equipment to manufacture their goods unlike the blacksmiths who require anvils. So you can make things anywhere, as long as you have the right ingredients.

The effects of the patches do not stack. They crush each other when you apply them. You can only have one patch on an object at the same time.

• Patches of armor and enchantments / spells do not stack. They crush each other.
